Work deadlines are such that I can't do crap for the current ween tour. And it's not coming to seattle. I looked into a weekend jaunt to Reno, but I'm working this weekend. My ween buddy is getting the full tour, SF, berkeley and Reno. the bastard. I couldn't even leave mid-week to go to boise or Bend.
As soon as we meet this deadline, I get a week off, so it may well be a road trip to minneapolis.
Red Rocks is a great place to see a show. I went to college in Boulder, and have three years of good shows there, and some shows like Steve Miller that I was dragged to. At least Eric Johnson opened. I'd say the best one was the Cult opening for Metallica. The metallica fans hated the cult, and I almost got beat up for applauding, but the Cult, who were always spotty as hell live, took the abuse in fine form, and put out the best show they'd ever done. Mettalica was on like the 90th leg of And Justice for All tour, this was 90 or 91, and they were tight. And about an hour into it, we got a summer hail storm. I think you can all imagine what getting hit by peanut sized hail does to a frenzied Metallica crowd. I had to keep moving my seat back to avoid the growing pit, and the hail caused a few scalp cuts. There were a couple of waves of hail, and I bet that some hepatitis was transmitted in the pit. There was a little lightning, but not enough to stop the show. Man, seeing lightening flash the arena with the hail coming down, the metallica fans going apeshit, and the band just digging it. Great show.
Keep the expectations low for Flaming lips. I like the new album, but don't think they're much of a live band anymore. Back in the early to mid 90s, they were the best live band out there.. now it's all tomfoolery and tape loops.

Re: countdown 3 days...
Mon, July 24, 2006 - 1:27 AMI LOVE how they're playing in Bend, OR (as far as I can tell from lookin' at a map... pretty much the middle of nowhere in oregon) on the day out of time (according to this calendar that counts the year as having 13 months of 28 days each... making 364 days in a year and one "day out of time" between when the old year ends and the new one begins... that day being July 25th... www.tortuga.com/ )
so ween, middle of nowhere, out of time. i am filled with amazement and want someone to whisk me away to this place.
enjoy your shows!!
